Assessing updates I need to make to this site, I discovered the previous post about scrapping the entire site and starting over as I tried to figure out wtf I was doing. And here I am, scrapping the entire site and starting over as I try to figure out wtf I am doing AGAIN! Whee!
In a complete turn-around from the last time, this time:
+ Switch to traditional media! I really did try to master digital…but, I’m just a better traditional artist. I can get better expression/expressiveness and control. More exciting marks. I’m using a mix of traditional and digital now, with the majority of the art created in pencil, pen-and-ink, and watercolor. Then photographing, importing to digital, and doing additional work, effects, and layout on the computer.
+ Vertical format. 1. Better for browsers. 2. Simplifies some things graphically for my nOOb-ness. 3. Can post full chapters instead of page-by-page, which means less posting, but also less need for people to have to remember to come back week after week.
+ Go SLOOOOOOOWWWWW. I have been reassured that, really, it’s fine to start with some world-building exposition and a slow, really obvious introduction to characters and motives. I don’t have to jump into action instantly. So, this time, there’s a world-history intro. And then I’m bringing back the original first episode before Kira gets her crew, only easing into it with additional set-up stuff.
Also, this time, some people will already know the world and be into it, so there’s that.
Third time a charm?
